Gesell Built started from a simple frustration: renovating a home shouldn't feel like a gamble. Homeowners were being bounced between trades, chasing quotes, and hoping the people who showed up were the ones they'd been promised.

So we built something different. A renovation company run with the discipline of a serious business, backed by a third-generation tradesman's judgment and a dedicated roster of vetted trades committed to our projects, not the open market.

We take on a deliberately limited number of significant renovations at a time. It's the only way to give each one the attention it deserves, and the reason our clients feel taken care of from the first call to the final detail.

What kind of projects do you take on?

Why do you price cost-plus instead of a fixed price?
A large renovation has too many variables to price honestly as one number up front, so fixed-price builders pad the figure to cover the unknowns and you pay that cushion whether it's needed or not. Cost-plus means you pay the real cost of labour and materials plus a clear management fee, with every invoice open to you.
What makes you different from a general contractor with a good crew?
Management and systems. A skilled carpenter isn't a project manager, and a modern renovation needs someone who owns the schedule, budget, permits, and communication. We pair that with custom-built software and a dedicated roster of vetted trades reserved for our projects.
Why are your trades not available to the public?
The best tradespeople are already busy, which makes assembling a great crew on your own hard. We've built ongoing relationships with a group of vetted trades who work through us on our projects. That commitment is what lets us protect quality and schedule.
Do you handle permits, engineering, and inspections?
Yes. Managing the demanding parts, including engineered drawings, City of Winnipeg permits, and inspections, is central to what we do.
How involved do I need to be during the project?
As involved as you want on the decisions that matter, and free of the coordination that shouldn't be your job. You get one point of contact and clear, organized updates, so you're always informed without chasing anyone.
